Ed Beaty is the Captain of the Operations and Training Division. He oversees the day to day patrol operations and is the department training coordinator responsible for in-service training, field training program, officer development and recruitment. He also oversees the Reserve Deputy program, Crash Investigation Teams and the Crisis Negotiation Team. He is responsible for fleet management and also serves as the Honor Guard Commander for the department.
Captain Beaty began his Career with the Grant County Sheriff’s Department as a Reserve Deputy 1989, then Civilian Jail Officer 1990, and was appointed as a Merit Deputy on January 1, 1992. Captain Beaty is certified as a law enforcement instructor by the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board and is certified as a specialist any many fields. He has served as a Jail Officer, Patrol Deputy, Narcotics Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant and Captain. Captain Beaty is a Veteran and served in the U. S. Marine Corps and the Indiana National Guard before retiring. Captain Beaty has attended numerous specialized schools during his career on a wide variety of law enforcement topics.
