The Operations Divison encompasses the patrol, detectives, and special teams components of the Grant County Sheriff's Department. Responsibilities of the Operations Division include enforcing traffic laws, preventing crime, responding to emergency calls, serving of warrants and civil process papers, investigating criminal cases and in-service training. This division consists of twenty-five patrol deputies, one uniformed investigator assigned to property crimes, one uniformed investigator assigned to sex offender registry, five detectives and one narcotics investigator assigned to the JEAN Team. The training section consists of eight deputies who are certified as instructors by the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. These deputies provide training to all law enforcement agencies in Grant County at the Andrew R. Benedict Law Enforcement Training Center and occasionally instruct at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. Thirteen other sworn deputies work in other areas of the Sheriff's Office.
